PSEC(Personal Sovereign Edge Cloud,个人主权边缘云)
是一种面向个人的下一代数字基础设施研究框架。
它以个人为中心,将个人数据、边缘计算、人工智能、
数字身份与可信协作结合起来,探索个人对自身数字资源和智能能力的长期控制。
Why PSEC?
随着云计算、物联网和人工智能的发展,
越来越多的个人数据、计算资源和智能服务依赖于中心化平台。
这种模式虽然带来了便利,但也产生了数据控制、隐私、
平台依赖以及个人数字自主性等新的问题。
PSEC 探索一种以个人为中心的数字基础设施,
使个人能够在自己的数字环境中管理数据、计算资源和智能服务,
并在保持自主控制的同时,与可信的个人、设备、组织和外部数字服务进行协作。
Concept
PSEC 的核心思想是:
个人不仅是数字服务的使用者,也可以成为自身数字基础设施的控制主体。
PSEC 关注以下几个相互关联的研究方向:
- Personal Data Sovereignty — 个人对自身数据拥有持续、可验证的控制能力。
- Edge-first Computing — 优先利用个人设备和边缘节点提供本地计算能力。
- Personal AI — 在个人环境中发展面向个人数据和个人需求的智能服务。
- Decentralized and Federated Collaboration — 在保持个人自主性的同时,实现可信的跨个人、跨设备和跨组织协作。
PSEC Conceptual Architecture
PSEC 采用分层的个人数字基础设施概念架构,
从物理世界与网络,逐步向个人数据、边缘计算、
个人服务以及个人人工智能能力扩展。
这一架构用于说明 PSEC 的研究方向,
重点表达个人数据、计算能力和人工智能能力之间的整体关系。

Architecture Layers
L1 — Physical World & Devices
IoT sensors, smart home devices, wearables, smartphones,
personal computers and other devices that connect the individual
with the physical and digital world.
L2 — Network
Personal and local networks provide connectivity among devices,
edge nodes and external services.
Secure networking and open communication standards support
reliable communication across the personal environment.
L3 — Edge Computing
Personal edge nodes provide local computing resources and services.
Representative experimental platforms may include Raspberry Pi,
NAS systems, edge AI nodes, containers and other local computing devices.
L4 — Personal Data / UPOD
The personal data layer builds on the idea of
Ubiquitous Personal Online Datastore (UPOD),
providing a conceptual foundation for personal data management,
protection and trusted sharing.
PSEC extends the idea of personal data sovereignty toward
a broader personal digital infrastructure in which data,
computing and intelligent services can coexist within a
personal-controlled environment.
L5 — Personal Services & Applications
Personal services and applications provide practical functions
for individuals, including information management, automation,
monitoring, personal knowledge resources and other intelligent services.
L6 — Personal AI & Intelligence
The upper layer explores personal artificial intelligence,
including AI agents, local AI models, personal knowledge resources
and intelligent services operating within personal environments.

These foundations support the development of a personal digital environment

Core Principles
- Sovereignty:
Personal data and digital resources should remain under the control of the individual. - Local-first:
Whenever appropriate, data and computation should remain close to the individual
and the devices they control. - Interoperability:
Open standards should enable communication and collaboration across
different systems and platforms. - Trust:
Collaboration should be based on explicit trust relationships,
privacy protection and transparent system behavior. - Human-centered Intelligence:
AI should serve individual needs while respecting personal autonomy,
privacy and control.
PSEC and UPOD
PSEC is a continuation of the research trajectory that began with
Ubiquitous Personal Online Datastore (UPOD).
UPOD focused primarily on personal data ownership, management and sharing.
PSEC extends this direction toward a broader personal digital infrastructure,
bringing together personal data, edge computing and personal intelligence.
The evolution can be summarized as:
1996 — PERSONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY

2026 — PSEC: PERSONAL SOVEREIGN EDGE CLOUD
个人主权边缘云。
PSEC 将研究从个人数据主权进一步扩展到个人数字基础设施,
探索数据、边缘计算和个人智能之间的新型关系。
Representative Experimental Environment
PSEC is being explored through a range of experimental environments
combining personal computing devices, edge nodes, network services,
personal data systems and AI technologies.
代表性的实验环境包括个人电脑、Raspberry Pi、NAS、
本地容器化服务、个人数据存储系统、网络连接服务以及 AI 实验平台等。
这些设备和软件是当前研究与实验中的代表性组成部分,
并非 PSEC 架构的强制技术组件。
The technologies and devices used in these experiments are
representative research components rather than mandatory
implementations of PSEC.

of trusted interaction with the wider digital world.
Personal sovereignty does not mean isolation.
It means having the ability to decide when, how and with whom
to connect, share and collaborate.
